Kristin has an MBA plus over 20 years of leadership, legal, and contract negotiation expertise, as well sales and marketing management experience. She was seeking a position that would allow her to use her education, skills, and experience to help an organization achieve its goals. When I asked, “what would your ideal job look like?” She provided this response:
“A role that is both strategic and tactical with the ability to create go to market strategies with collateral development, sales training, and operations. One where I a develop client solutions that are innovative, efficient, and profitable for all stakeholders, and training the sales team on the strategy and how to implement it with their clients to move the business forward.”
Action Plan Steps
Together we determined her true interests and what really drives her
Created an inventory of skills, experience, and accomplishments
Identified specific fields, jobs, and organizations that would provide what she sought
Developed a search plan with specific steps and timelines
Created resumes and cover letters tailored to each job she was applying for
Helped prepare her for interviews which included reviewing questions she would get (and ask) and role playing to build confidence
Outcome: Three months later I helped her successfully negotiate an offer
for a position as VP of Sales & Operations with a strategic resourcing and professional services company providing consulting and project management.
She reported: “The team is small, mighty, and passionate about their company and their jobs. It is an opportunity to combine so many things I didn't realize that I loved until we worked together. You were an amazing influence and solved problems I didn't even know where stopping me from growing. Thank you again for all of your help, support and sounding board during this journey. I couldn’t have done it without you.”
